Project Manager (SAP to Oracle migration)



  • This is a role in the Client organization's Modernising Back Office Systems (MBOS) programme. MBOS which has multiple integrated and complimentary workstreams in order to source and implement a replacement for the Client organization's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system SAP with Oracle.
  • The role will be to undertake overall management, co-ordination and delivery of specific workstream projects within the MBOS Programme to deliver a successful implementation. The role will be aligned to specific workstreams within the MBOS programme and the following area alignments are anticipated: HR & Recruitment, Payroll, Finance, AP/AR, Procurement


  • Formulate a strategy and develop detailed plans for the delivery of allocated projects for approval by the workstream project board. The strategy needs to take into account legal duties as well as all business needs to provide effective service provision to service users
  • Direct and lead the design and implementation for delivery of allocated projects, ensure delivery of the outcomes set out in the project and manage any current or future resources, including personnel and budgets that are attached to the project
  • Develop and put in place rigorous evaluation and performance monitoring throughout planning and implementation
  • Establish appropriate governance arrangements for the project
  • Compile reports and present to relevant committees and groups as required
  • Ensure that project plans and proposals are in line with the Client organization‘s policies and strategies, enhance efficiencies and client experience, whilst ensuring best use of public resources and supporting the achievement of relevant savings targets
  • To undertake cost/benefit analyses and produce business cases to inform effective decision-making
  • Plan, influence and proactively manage business and practice change to maximise the benefits of the project implementation for the services and ensure that risks and issues are communicated effectively between the project implementation team and the services
  • Undertake training needs analysis for key staff and stakeholders who will be involved in the project development and/or implementation. Where a need is identified, ensure that appropriate training is available and accessed
  • Work with internal departments and external organisations to identify and agree elements of the plan to be delivered by/in conjunction with other stakeholders.
  • Review all relevant policies and procedures ensuring they are fit for purpose, and amend, strengthen or create policies and procedures where appropriate in support of the project delivery
  • Make recommendations on future on-going work and associated resource requirements
  • Manage a team of administrative/project staff so that they are developed efficiently and effectively, their wellbeing is maintained and their performance continuously improves

  • Ability to use IT to manage projects e.g. Microsoft Project and spreadsheets
  • Ability to present complex information clearly verbally and in writing in a variety of formats in a wide range of settings, including preparation and presentation of reports to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage budgets effectively


  • Previous ERP project delivery experience
  • Previous functional change project delivery experience
  • MS Project and Visio skills
