We are over the moon to have the News UK team at Questers recognized as a Dev Team of the Year by the 2019 GTS Awards last week. The recognition comes after a hectic year of growth during which we’ve built a strong and collaborative team of almost 30 professionals.
So, how did everything start?
Back in November 2018, Questers was pleased to announce its partnership with NewsUK, the company owner of a stable of news and media brands such as The Times, The Sunday Times and The Sun. Their award-winning titles provide world-class news, sport, analysis and opinion to an audience that crosses race, age and class. The partnership with Questers aims to build a team of tech professionals who would support the transformation of the inherited tech stack that has evolved from the print editions to a new scalable and efficient platform.
What is this award for?
A year after the announcement, the News UK team in Bulgaria has significantly grown and now consists of a number of exceptional JavaScript, Mobile, DevOps and QA engineers who are working across a number of the News UK's key projects including a major re-platforming project with React and React Native, News UK's first open-sourced design system and component library built in React and utilising GraphQL, as well as DevOps projects within their cloud platform.
The award recognizes the passion, strong motivation and proactiveness of the people of the team. They are professionals with strong experience who are building a great team culture where people help each other with the aim to constantly develop and excel. They have laid grounds of a friendly and inspiring work atmosphere and we are impressed by their dedication and enthusiasm to learn and implement new ideas into the projects they are working on.
