THE ROLE:
We are looking for a talented and passionate Automation QA Engineer (Cypress) to join our team based in Sofia, Bulgaria. You’ll be an important part of a team delivering quality software. In this role you will help define, implement and continuously improve a testing strategy, aiming to automate as much as possible.
YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO SOMETHING BIG:
- You’ll work in an agile environment with product teams and business analysts to ensure that tickets are clearly understood and are testable
- You’ll collaborate with your peers across QA, engineering, and other disciplines both in London and in Sofia to advocate a test-driven development approach and evangelise the importance of quality

OUR IDEAL TEAMMATE HAS/IS:
- You’re a self-motivated QA professional who can make right judgement calls based on a sound knowledge of the testing pyramid and best practices
- You have excellent attention to detail and are comfortable collaborating with team members and are not afraid to ask questions
- You are proactive and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong manual testing skills are required, ideally on a web front end
- Good communication and organisational skills are essential. You will be part of a team of QA’s on The Sun who are responsible for coordination and managing releases in addition to their testing responsibilities
BROWNIE POINTS:
- Some previous experience in writing automated tests would be beneficial. The main tool we use for automated testing is Cypress so any experience using Cypress/JavaScript/Typescript would be ideal
- We also use Percy and Chromatic for visual testing and React Storybook for component creation, so any previous experience with visual test tools is a bonus but not essential
- At The Sun we are looking to improve/maintain our core web vitals as well as improve our accessibility, so any experience in SEO improvements and accessibility testing is a bonus but not essential
