YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO SOMETHING BIG:
- As a Database Administrator, you will be looking after the databases that make Syncplicity a stable, secure, and world- renown tool for our enterprise customers
- You will work with our heads of operations to define, build, and manage our database strategy and database operations to ensure our production systems are fit-for-purpose and future-proofed
- You will understand DB best practices and constantly work to improve our database environment – optimizing queries, automating scripts, reviewing all aspects of the systems, and working with developers to ensure they make the best use of the databases, you will also participate in the rotating on-call schedule
- Service stability: Incident Management and Problem Management
- Change Management on escort and delivery changes initiated by R&D
- Maintaining and optimizing existing infrastructure and application set (MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
- Automates manual repeatable and day-to-day operations tasks
- Perform review and management from costs and performance perspectives
- Participate in improvements, optimization, and development of automation based on Ansible, Terraform-Terragrant, and Jenkins, as well as related to the containerization of applications based on Kubernetes in AWS EKS
- Participate in SCRUM-based processes as a part of the team
OUR IDEAL TEAMMATE HAS/IS:
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in administrating Windows operating systems
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in administrating RDBMS, TSQL, SQL DB (PostgreSQL \ MariaDB \ MySQL as advantages)
- Experience with highly loaded databases plus troubleshooting and investigating production issue
- Experience with replication or migration to distribute data to different locations and DB Development (MSSQL –preferred)
- You have a technical background and experience as a server administrator (Linux and/or Windows)
- Hands-on experience with various server operating systems (Windows families)
- Solid understanding of the application servers architecture and operating model within at least one type of operating system (Linux or Windows)
- Ready to work in on-call shifts
- Hands-on experience with cloud technologies, AWS is preferable
BROWNIE POINTS:
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server 2012/2016 and MS SQL Server Administration on a senior level
- Practical experience in scripting languages and routine procedures automation (bash, python, PowerShell)
- Always On Availability Groups (Shared File Witness)
- Knowledge of Windows Server Failover Cluster, Active\Passive mode
- Blockings, deadlocks, statistics usage, updates, and features
- Performance tuning (using various index types for optimization, and execution plans)
- Knowledge of SQL Server services (security), T-SQL \ SQL on the middle level
- Monitoring (User level)- SSMS, Profiler, SentryOne, Grafana, Zabbix, Kibana
- Experience in monitoring and maintaining applications or software products, triaging incidents, and participating in investigations with developers (SRE)
