THE ROLE:

• This role sits within the US Engineering team. You will be working with our Servicing team, currently composed of 6 back-end product engineers, a QA Engineer, and a Product owner. You will be using event-driven, scalable architecture to optimise the experience for borrowers, investors, and stakeholders.
• As part of an agile cross-functional team, you'll collaborate on hands-on technical implementation, working closely with product and principal engineers to automate processes, implement new features, update older systems, and provide technical leadership.
• You'll also stay current with technological advancements and pragmatically introduce relevant new features to Funding Circle's platform.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO SOMETHING BIG:

• We are focused on using Back End technology in an event driven and scalable architecture to provide the best experience for our borrowers, investors, and stakeholders. We are doing this using Clojure, Kafka, AWS, Ruby/Rails and Postgres.
• Collaborating as part of an agile cross functional team
• Performing hands-on technical implementation
• Working closely with product and principal engineers to automate business processes, implement new features, update/re-architect older parts of the system
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to less experienced engineers on the team
• Keep up to date with technological enhancements and seek how to introduce pertinent new features into Funding Circle’s platform in a pragmatic way

OUR IDEAL TEAMMATE HAS/IS:

• An experienced senior in Back End Engineering
• Highly experienced with Clojure and Kafka
• Able to lead and influence architectural decisions
• Comfortable working with brownfield systems
• Experienced in working with a product team as well as wider stakeholders to build a deep understanding within the domain
• Experienced working with distributed systems and knowledgeable in Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum or Kanban)
• Excellent communication, both written and verbal
